The Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Manchester is currently searching for a Program Director for their secured dementia unit. As the Program Director, you must have demonstrated clinical skills in assessing and managing the care of persons with Alzheimer’s and related dementia. You will act as a liaison of the Dementia Unit in the facility with other departments, the dementia community and the residents and families that the unit serves. The Program Director supervises the supportive care and daily routine given to the residents and ensures that their emotional, social, and physical needs are met.

To qualify for this position, you must be an RN, licensed in the state of NH with a minimum of one-year work experience with dementia or Alzheimer’s residents or both preferably in a long-term care setting, within the last five years, and must have had dementia specific training. Must have excellent communication and supervisory skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility
  • Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies
  • Consult with the resident’s physician in providing the resident’s care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc. as necessary
  • Make written and oral recommendations concerning the activities of your shift as required
  • Participate in the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents as required and arrange for transportation and/or escort when necessary

Requirements:

  • Must possess a current license to practice nursing in the State of New Hampshire
  • Must have at least two years’ experience in a health-related field
  • Must have knowledge of nursing practices and procedures as they pertain to long-term care and an understanding of the medical/physical needs of the residents.
  • Must be available for on-call hours as scheduled by the Director of Nursing/Administrator to attain twenty-four hour clinical and or staff management
