CCNH Awarded Grant to Expand Access to Mental Health Counseling

Catholic Charities NH, the state’s largest human services organization, was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Alice J. Reen Charitable Trust to make mental health counseling services more accessible to low-income residents in the Concord area.
Rising costs, a lack of affordable housing and other pressures are increasing demand for mental health services within Greater Concord and New Hampshire. Catholic Charities NH provides flexible mental health counseling services, both in person and through teletherapy, to help people better cope with difficult situations and improve their overall quality of life.
Its team of experienced clinicians help people facing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, marital and relationship challenges, sudden life changes and more. These services help clients regain a sense of self-worth and become more resilient in the face of life’s challenges.
Most major insurance plans are accepted, and support from grants such as this one helps Catholic Charities offer sliding-scale fees to people who otherwise may struggle to afford care.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Alice J. Reen Charitable Trust for helping make mental health counseling more accessible to people who are struggling,” said Cindy Coughlin, LCMHC, Director of Catholic Charities NH’s Mental Health Counseling Services. “For many people, the pressures of daily life can become overwhelming. This grant will help ensure they get the support they need to cope with difficult situations and begin to heal.”
Among clients who completed counseling with Catholic Charities NH in 2025, 90% reported improvements in their overall quality of life, while 92% reported a reduction in symptoms.
