Liberty House Receives $25,000 Grant

Liberty House, a program of Catholic Charities NH, was awarded a $25,000 grant from Swim With A Mission (SWAM) to enhance critical support for veterans transitioning from financial instability, substance use recovery and housing insecurity.

The grant will specifically help fund the creation of a new housing stability specialist position, part of Liberty House’s expanded focus on aftercare support services for veterans moving from its transitional residential program into independent living. With continued case management, life skills coaching, counseling, and connections to essential community resources, these extended services are pivotal in helping veterans maintain their housing stability, sobriety, employment and key social support systems.

“While securing housing is a critical milestone for our veterans, it remains a vulnerable period for those recovering from substance use and other trauma,” said Jeff Nelson, executive director of Liberty House. “Our aftercare program allows veterans to remain connected to our programs and further sustain the successes they’ve worked hard for. We are incredibly grateful to SWAM for enabling us to provide our veterans with essential resources and support, ensuring their successful journey towards greater self-sufficiency.”

“We are proud to support Liberty House in its effort to serve our homeless Veterans. Our freedom is not free and its organizations like Liberty House that honor our Veterans every day!” said Phil Taub, co-founder of Swim With A Mission.

Liberty House provides an action-oriented, mission-focused program that empowers veterans to lead purposeful and independent lives. Through its substance-free residential program and community pantry, Liberty House helps veterans get back on their feet, regain their independence and build stable futures.
