Sometimes, the smallest gestures of kindness can pave the way to a much-needed new beginning. That’s what happened to Jennifer, thanks to kind people like you.

The New Hampshire mother of four recently made the courageous decision to leave domestic violence behind, choosing her children’s safety over stability.

On her own and struggling to make ends meet, Jennifer quickly fell behind in her electric bill. If it wasn’t paid soon, Jennifer’s kids would be doing homework by candlelight and the food in the fridge would spoil. These are hardships no child should ever have to endure.

But once again, Catholic Charities NH supporters helped save the day. Leveraging our community partnerships, our Community Services program stepped in to advocate for Jennifer. Together, we negotiated a manageable payment plan with the electric company, keeping the power on and the hope alive in Jennifer’s household.

Today, we’re helping her create a budget so she can get avert future crises and get back on her feet for good.

Because of your kindness, Jennifer’s family now has more than just electricity – they have hope for the future.

Every time Jennifer flicks a switch, she’s reminded of the caring community behind her, and that brighter days are ahead.
