New Generation Recognized for Excellence with “Top Gun” Award

Move over Maverick. There’s a new Top Gun in town!

New Generation was recently honored with the inaugural “Top Gun Award” from the New Hampshire Bureau of Homeless Services, recognizing our shelter as one of the best-performing in the state.

Created by Rob Waters, Shelter Administrator for the Bureau, the award encourages shelters to continually improve outcomes. It is open to all state-funded shelters in New Hampshire, along with select independently funded programs.

Shelters are evaluated on key measures such as length of stay, accuracy of reporting, long-term resident stability, and the support residents receive as they transition to independence.

Specifically, New Generation stood out in the following areas:

  • 1st Place: Highest Full House – consistently keeping shelter beds filled so more families can be served.
  • 1st Place: Highest % of Leavers Enrolled for Benefits – ensuring families leave shelter with access to programs like WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid.
  • 1st Place: Highest % of Clients with Income at Exit – a strong measure of how well our case management prepares residents for stability.
  • 2nd Place: Lowest Recidivism Rate – showing that families who leave New Generation rarely return to homelessness.

While the “Top Gun” Award is lighthearted in name, it affirms the outstanding work being done every day at New Generation.

A big thanks to our staff for guiding our mothers from homelessness to stability, and to the incredible support of our donors, volunteers and community for making our truly life-changing impact possible!
