Virtual Mardi Gras Raises Nearly $189,000

Catholic Charities NH, one of the state’s largest social services organizations, announced that its Virtual Mardi Gras has raised $188,787 to help create better pathways forward for New Hampshire residents facing hardship and crisis. Held on Tuesday, February 16 (Fat Tuesday), The Virtual Mardi Gras featured special guests, including Bishop Peter Libasci from the Diocese of Manchester, a Fund-A-Need segment and other entertainment. The full event can be viewed at cc-nh.org/mardigras. “While we couldn’t get together in-person as we have in past years, that could not stop us from what matters most – raising funds to support those who are struggling during these difficult times,” said Karen Moynihan, senior director of development at Catholic Charities NH. “We are very appreciative of the incredible generosity and support of our donors, sponsors, event committee and community. It’s because of them that we were able to celebrate our annual Mardi Gras in a unique and creative way, all while making a significant and meaningful difference in the lives around us.” A few Mardi Gras activities remain open until February 23, allowing an opportunity to continue to participate:
  • Support the Fund-A-Need or a Krewe Champion: All gifts go directly toward Catholic Charities NH programs and services that assist families facing increasing financial pressures, homeless veterans seeking to get their lives back on track, seniors battling hunger and isolation, individuals struggling with mental health challenges, and other vulnerable populations statewide.
  • Bid in the event’s online auction: Items include several getaways to the White Mountains, golf packages, electronics, restaurant gift cards and more. The online auction goes through February 23 at 5 p.m.
  • Play the Virtual Mardi Gras Gamebook: It’s fun and free! If you find any (or all five) clues, you will be entered into a drawing for prizes such as gift cards to the Common Man, Copper Door, a special New Orleans food basket and more.
