Warde Independent Living Breaks Ground
New facility in Windham scheduled for September 2019.
Catholic Charities New Hampshire broke ground on a 38,000 square-foot independent living facility on its Warde Health Center campus in Windham on Friday, October 5.
Warde Independent Living, which sits on the former site of Castle Junior College and will be connected to the Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, encompasses a new two-story wing with 21 independent senior living units and an adjacent carport for resident parking. The new facility will also include a single-story wing with 10 assisted living units.
“We’re excited to provide Southern New Hampshire with this affordable and modern living environment where residents can maintain independence and enjoy life on their own terms,” said Tom Blonski, president and CEO of Catholic Charities New Hampshire. “Situated on the historic and beautiful 40-acre Searles campus in Windham, and conveniently located off Interstate 93, Warde Independent Living will be the perfect place to call home.”
Construction is scheduled to be completed by September 2019. Residents will have access to a wide array of social, cultural, recreational and dining programs to enjoy.
The expansion brings the total size of Warde Health Center to 59,000 square feet. This includes the existing 68 private rooms for short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and assisted living at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Lavallee Brensinger Architects in Manchester is the lead architect and Milestone Engineering and Construction, Inc. of Concord is the contractor for the project.
