Catholic Charities NH’s Blonski Meets with Pope Leo XIV

Tom Blonski, president and CEO of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, was among Catholic Charities USA board members and leadership who met with Pope Leo XIV on Monday, May 4, during a private audience at the Vatican. The visit took place as part of Blonski’s role on the Catholic Charities USA Board of Directors.

During the audience, Pope Leo XIV offered words of encouragement and gratitude, recognizing the critical role Catholic Charities agencies play in serving those most in need. He emphasized that this work is a reflection of Christ’s love and an essential part of living out the Christian faith.

“You seek to find solutions to inhumane situations, alleviate the suffering of individuals and families, and relieve the burden of those weighed down by hardship and strife,” said Pope Leo XIV. “The practical assistance you offer allows those you serve to experience God’s love.”

The Holy Father also greeted attendees individually, including Blonski.

“This was a deeply meaningful and humbling experience,” said Blonski. “To hear directly from the Holy Father – and to be reminded through his words of the importance of caring for those most in need – was incredibly powerful. It reflects what we see every day here in New Hampshire: when you show up for someone in need, it truly changes lives. I’m grateful to bring that message back as we continue serving our most vulnerable neighbors with dignity and compassion.”

The visit was coordinated by Catholic Charities USA.
