Those words from Matthew 28:20 echo Jesus’ powerful promise that he will be with us through the end of time.

It was a fitting theme for Catholic Charities NH’s 2026 Annual Gathering, held Tuesday, September 15, at the Derryfield Country Club in Manchester. More than 125 attendees came together to celebrate another year of bringing comfort, healing and empowerment to New Hampshire neighbors in need.

The words also speak to the heart of Catholic Charities NH’s mission. Whether it’s a veteran held back by trauma, a family struggling to stay afloat, a senior wondering if there will be enough food for the week ahead or someone facing an unexpected crisis, we are there to walk alongside them.

Our donors, staff, volunteers and community make that steady presence possible, helping ensure our neighbors are not alone during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Tom Blonski, president and CEO of Catholic Charities NH, reflected on that promise in his annual address and how it comes to life through the organization’s work each day.

“Individuals and families facing challenges often need more than a single intervention. They need support that addresses the many challenges they face – and people willing to walk with them every step of the way.

“Just as Christ promises never to leave or forsake his followers, we seek to accompany people through life’s most difficult moments. Through relationships, trust and compassionate care, we can bring hope and healing while reminding our neighbors that they are never alone.”

Blonski also highlighted some of the impact made over the past fiscal year:

• $24.2 million in free or reduced-cost services provided across New Hampshire.
• 9,554 household members supported through Community Services.
• Nearly 2,700 people received financial assistance – up 20% from the previous year.
• 93% of Liberty House residents secured safe, affordable housing after achieving stability in the program.
• 6,665 nights of safe shelter provided to mothers and children through New Generation.
• 125,000 pounds of food delivered to older adults by CareGivers volunteers.
• 20.1 million pounds of food distributed by the New Hampshire Food Bank through 425 food pantries and programs statewide.
• 3 St. Charles School students successfully transitioned back to public schools.
• 5 nursing facilities earned national Bronze quality awards, with three also recognized by U.S. News & World Report.
• 64 new affordable apartments completed in Peterborough – four months ahead of schedule.

“Together, we’re creating a community where people are not defined by their challenges, but strengthened by the support they receive and the hope they discover. Thank you for being that steady presence – helping our neighbors move from crisis to stability, from isolation to connection and from uncertainty to possibility. Together, we are organizing love.”

Guardian Angel Award: Matt Connors

Matt Connors was named this year’s Guardian Angel Award recipient in recognition of his extraordinary and steadfast commitment to helping those in need. Guided by a deep faith and a desire to serve without recognition, Connors has quietly supported Catholic Charities NH programs over the years, making a lasting difference for individuals and families across the state.

His generosity has been especially impactful at the New Hampshire Food Bank and Liberty House, helping provide nourishment to those experiencing food insecurity and critical support for veterans working to rebuild their lives.

“While Matt may prefer to work behind the scenes, his impact is impossible to overlook,” said Blonski. “His compassion, kindness and dedication to service have touched thousands of lives. Matt’s example reminds us that true leadership is not measured by recognition received, but by lives changed.”

In His Footsteps: Dan Hannigan

Dan Hannigan received the annual In His Footsteps Award, which recognizes a Catholic Charities NH employee who goes above and beyond in living out the organization’s mission and core values.

Since joining Catholic Charities NH in 2021, Dan has found creative new ways to share our mission and the stories of those we serve. His passion for working with older adults has been especially evident and recently led him to a new role as Director of Resident Experience and Marketing for our Healthcare Services division.

“Dan listens. He cares. He isn’t there just to get the best soundbite or capture the right footage. He wants to understand and genuinely connect with the person behind the story. His work has helped people see, feel and understand the impact of Catholic Charities NH in powerful ways,” said Michael McDonough, executive director of Marketing and Communications, who presented the award.

Two Outgoing Board Members Honored

Catholic Charities NH also recognized two outgoing members of its Board of Trustees – Kevin Desrosiers and Adam Coughlin – for their dedicated service to the organization over the past six years.

Desrosiers served as chair of Catholic Charities NH’s Healthcare Committee, while Coughlin served on the Resource Development Committee. Both played an important role in guiding the organization and advancing its mission during their six years of service.
